Peter Skopek, Ph.D., P.E., G.E. – Principal
Peter has more than 18 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, foundation design, earthquake engineering, and excavation and retaining structure design. He has overseen geotechnical investigation and design projects for public and private sector clients throughout the United States and Canada. This has included support for large high-rise building projects, street and highway improvements, development of educational institutions and public facilities, slope stabilization programs, and large earthwork construction projects. Peter has a Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering from the University of Alberta, and an M.Sc. in geotechnical engineering from the Czech Technical University. He is a registered Civil Engineer and Geotechnical Engineer in California.
Edward Sabins, P.G., C.E.G. – Senior Engineering Geologist
Ed has 22 years of experience in engineering geology, including investigations of commercial building sites, pipelines, fault studies, environmental impact assessments, and hazardous waste sites. He conducts geologic reviews of regional and site conditions with emphasis on geologic hazards, geologic surface mapping, and characterization of subsurface conditions. Ed holds a B.S. in geology from the University of California, Los Angeles; and is a California registered Professional Geologist, and Certified Engineering Geologist.
Luis Vesga, Ph.D., P.E. - Senior Engineer
Luis has more than 20 years of geotechnical engineering experience at the consulting and academic levels. His professional experience includes analysis and design of deep and shallow foundations, slope stability and stabilization, ground stabilization, design of underpinning and repair of existing foundations. He has designed braced, cantilevered, tieback, soil nail, and mechanically supported retaining walls and excavations. He has also evaluated liquefaction potential, geotechnical seismic design, and performed site specific seismic evaluation and risk analysis for large municipalities. Luis has a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh; an M.Sc. in civil and environmental engineering from the Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia; and a B.S. in civil engineering from the Universidad de La Salle. He is a registered Civil Engineer in California, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
